“When we talk about change, we can say that there is always something that we should not change. This is the original vision that our ancestors had when they founded the first Serbian state, which is that without education, without faith, faith in knowledge and faith in people – there is no real state ”
In 1990, lawyer Ivković Snežana established an independent law firm. After working in the lawyer’s office Petar Nožinić, with support and approval of the principal, the founder entered in the Kragujevac Bar Association. Area of work, in the initial years of the office, was mostly focused on criminal law matter. By taking a responsible approach, through a confidential relationship with clients, the office has progressed in the years to come. We are especially proud of the fact that we have always been recognized as a reliable partner who always protects the interests of our clients, without compromise.
Her first experience in the field of law, the founder of the office, gained in the corporate sector. As a trainee and then a lawyer in the then giant of the automotive industry, the founder gained a wide range of knowledge in the field of commercial, especially labor and business law. In later years, these will also be areas, but also experience and contacts that will further branch the professional orientation of the office.
The office was expanding so the business area was directed in accordance with the dynamics of changes and the environment. As the economic relations developed and opened to the private sector office also focused on the areas of commercial law, and consequently civil and labor law. Several associates, interns and secretaries passed through the office, directing their knowledge and energy to the future work of the office. Since 2005, the office has moved from Ivo Lola Ribar Street to Dragoslav Srejović Street. After changing seat, office changes its system of work. Commercial law becomes the dominant area of work particularly the area of labor law through cooperation with representative trade unions and economic entities. As the economic dynamics of increasingly accelerated both the developed and the work of the office, and our knowledge was getting richer for the experience of practice.
The reputation of timely and effective protection of the rights of workers, public but also partly of the private sector, has brought about business tasks, thereby directing the work focus of the office. We have fought and managed to protect the rights of workers through massive labor cases, but also through the practice of the courts to set the bar against unilateral treatment of guaranteed rights. We are proud of the fact that our work is focused on the practice of respecting the rights and clear application of the guaranteed standards in many different fields.
Other related branches of law, especially commercial law, were consequently supplemented by labor law, so that our associates and employees were trained in a wider range of fields through practice.
The history of our office, the ups and downs, the aspirations, the efforts and the various challenges, all lead us again to the wise thought that “hard times create strong people, and strong people create good times.” It is our desire to write the new pages of this chapter for the days ahead, which we will prove proud of in the years to come, and make our followers proud.
Today, the office consists of a team of four lawyers, a secretary, 3 external associates for work areas, tax and economic rights, as well as several associates of legal documents with whom they jointly analyze and solve the daily challenges of legal practice. It is our wish that in the years to come for our team become richer for free minds, eager for knowledge and common progress.
The history of advocacy
World history of the beginning of social and political thought can also be linked to the “seed of good hope” for the bar. So, the law has its roots in the developed civilizations of ancient Greece and ancient Rome. In Serbia, the legal profession officially “settled” into the norms of the state, during the time of Mihaila Obrenovića. Later, at the suggestion of the government of Ilija Garašanin, the tragically injured ruler also marked his time with a modern law on the bar. The Law on Public Advocates defines the rights and obligations of lawyers. So, legal aid has, broadly speaking, become an exclusive right for school lawyers who are registered with the Ministry of Justice. After more than two decades of standardizing their rights and obligations, attorneys began to associate, and as a result of that association, the Defender Magazine has founded, and continues to this day. The present system of organization of the bar is introduced only in the years since the First World War, and with minor changes, it is maintained today. The rules of conduct within the profession were last established in 2011 by the Law on the Bar.
